Taste develops slowly. There's no way around that—it requires time and attention. But it can be accelerated. The process is not mysterious, and it's not magic. It's a learnable set of practices that, when done consistently, meaningfully speed up how quickly you develop the ability to recognize and produce good work.

The core conditions are straightforward: sustained exposure to excellent work in your domain, honest comparison between good and adequate work, active articulation of what makes something good, and willingness to be wrong without defensiveness. If you have those four things, your taste will develop. If you skip any of them, you'll plateau.
