The Calibration Skill
Most new security stories don't require immediate action. Most also don't deserve to be ignored. The skill is calibrated response: acknowledging that a threat exists, assessing its relevance to your situation, and taking action that's proportionate to the actual risk and the information available.
This is harder than either dismissing security news entirely or panicking at every headline. It requires sitting with uncertainty. It requires saying "I don't know if this affects me, so I'm going to monitor it" instead of either assuming it's fine or assuming it's a disaster. This discomfort is where real security judgment lives.
